Plan Your Visit
Painting Guidelines
We love artists!
Here are a few guidelines while you paint on the grounds.
Reservations
Please contact the Museum several days before you or your group wish to visit by calling the Education Department (David D.J. Rau, Director of Education & Outreach at (860) 434-5542, ext. 115 or via email at david@flogris.org. Groups failing to reserve will be asked to leave and return at a scheduled time.
Sign in upon arrival
Painters are asked to please sign in at the front desk of the Museum (located in the lobby of the Krieble Gallery). It is helpful to Museum staff to know which groups are on the grounds each day so that we may better serve all of our visitors.
Hours of operation
The Museum grounds are open to the general public Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00AM – 5:00 PM, and Sunday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM from April through December.
Parking
Painters are asked to park in the far parking lot. This is the same lot used by the Museum staff. Please reserve the closest lot for our Museum visitors. The driveway north of the property is a fire lane and is NOT to be used for parking at any time.
Facilities
Restrooms are available for your use in the Krieble Gallery (Tuesdays through Saturdays 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Sundays 1:00 – 5:00 PM) and the Hartman Education Center (Sundays 1:00 – 5:00 PM and by chance during the week).
Painting on the Veranda
Painters are asked not to paint on the stone patio nor the veranda that surrounds the Marshfield House and the Krieble Gallery.
Wet Paintings
Painters are not allowed to bring wet paintings into any of the Museum buildings with the exception of the Hartman Education Center.
No Pets
Painters are asked not to bring their pets onto the Museum grounds during a painting session.
Gallery Admission
The Krieble Gallery and Florence Griswold House are available by admission tickets only. Tickets can be purchased at the Museum’s front desk for $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (62+), $8 for students. Museum members and children under age 12 are FREE.
