VIRTUAL LECTURE: The Shape of Dreams

Whether prophecies or cautionary warnings, messages from the gods or simply the result of bad digestion, the dreams artists translate onto canvas and the artistic devices used to convey these dreams are an endless source of fascination for audiences. In conjunction with The Shape of Dreams exhibition at the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, Tush will explore five centuries of artists translating theirs dreams onto canvas. The talk will discuss the sources of, nature of, and uses of dreams by surveying work by such diverse artists as Salvador Dalí, Lodovico Carracci, Paul Delvaux, Pat Steir, Philip Guston, Max Beckmann, Odilon Redon, and Giorgio DeChirico.
